This project will focus on understanding barriers that distance learners face in their interactions with faculty. Along with this investigative portion, it will enhance distance learning outcomes with an educational intervention that would use strategies from EAB Student Success Collaborative to increase student-faculty interactions by means of targeted electronic (email and text messages) communications. The needs assessment of perceived barriers and facilitators of interactions with faculty will include student population taking online Organizational Psychology and Computer Integrated Manufacturing courses. Developed online strategies and needs assessment will provide better understanding of the perceived challenges, barriers, and preferences of distance students for interacting with faculty.
