Video motion analysis can provide opportunities to learn unique motor skills by having access to correct and well-formulated performance models of the skills, particularly for those skills that do not have an established, research-based teaching protocol or that present rare opportunities for live skill demonstrations. Video analysis also makes it possible for inexperienced students to practice observational skills for the purpose of identification or assessment of components of skill performance that cannot be effectively seen in live action. Effective assessment of motor skills yielding quantitative data will be required in newly amended federal legislation.
