Electronic medical records (EMRs) are increasingly used for documentation and communication in health care. Most students will spend their careers caring for patients in a world where EMRs are standard. In order to be successful in that environment, physical therapists and nurses will need to be comfortable with the technology and with ways of retrieving, entering, transmitting and storing information with computers . This proposal addresses the issue of students' need to become familiar with and competent in using EMRs for gathering vital information about patients and for documenting their own plan of care for a patient.
