Paula Alvaro Sanchez

Paula Alvaro-Sanchez is one of the Faculty Champions. Her interests include Spanish Linguistics and Sociolinguistics. She taught her SPAN 366 Spanish for Business course using Canvas in Spring 2022. She was born in Madrid and raised in Granada. She earned a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Granada. She moved to the United States in 2012. During her time as a M.A student at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington (UNCW), she worked with Dr. Boomershine in the research of “The Evolution of the Spanish Vowels in an Immersion Program.” She started working at Old Dominion University in August 2017 as an Adjunct Faculty teaching face-to-face and online classes. Since August 2019 she has been a Spanish Lecturer and is focused on teaching online courses, and also Spanish for professions. She has designed and developed two shells (SPAN 101 and SPAN 201) with CLT for teaching online Spanish lower divisions courses. She also designed and developed two upper-division courses (SPAN 312 Grammar and Composition and SPAN 366 Spanish for Business) to be taught online and asynchronously. She is an online coordinator for the online lower division Spanish sections.
