Blackboard: Discussion Board
Step 1.
To enter the Discussion Board page, first, click on the Communication button or click on the Discussion Board button if available.

Step 2.
Click Discussion Board.

Step 3.
Once on the Discussion Board page, you will be presented with various Forums.

Step 4.
These Forums will correspond to Discussion questions for a specific project.

Step 5.
The instructor may include specific instructions to the students in this section. Read them carefully before proceeding.

Step 6.
After reading the Discussion topic and instructions, click the appropriate Forum name to participate in the activity.

Step 7.
You are now within the Forum entitled 'Welcome'. Someone has already posted a message. To view the message, click on the heading.

Step 8.
The text of the message is displayed. To respond to the message, click on the Reply button.

Step 9.
Type your response into the message box and click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.

Step 10.
Your response will be diplayed in a similar fashion.

Step 11.
If you wish to mark the messages that you have read already, click Show Options.

Step 12.
Here you will find a variety of options to manipulate your messages.

Step 13.
To manipulate a specific message, mark the box next to the message title.

Step 14.
Then click on the appropriate button.

Step 15.
To select all messages at once, click Select All.

Step 16.
To close the panel, click Hide Options.

Step 17.
To post your own message click on the Add New Thread button.

Step 18.
Copy the Forum title into the Subject box. To do that drag over the text to select it.

Step 19.
Copy the Forum title into the Subject box. To do that drag over the text to select it.

Step 20.
Click in the Subject text box, right click again and select Paste.

Step 21.
The text has been copied.

Step 22.
Type in your message into the message box and click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Step 23.
Your message will appear following the others.

Step 24.
The top level of the Discussion Board page shows the number of messages posted by students and instructor.
