To obtain rosters of students enrolled in your class or to get a current headcount, please work with your department. Normally, your department's administrative assistant can offer this assistance. This information can also be obtained through LEO Online or Blackboard.
To download your class roster from LEO Online, please use the Web Report Menu Section. This option will help you identify the students’ site locations.
- Log into Leo Online Secure Area
- www.odu.edu > click Faculty and Staff > click Leo Online > scroll down to click "Enter Secure Area"
- www.leoonline.odu.edu > scroll down to click "Enter Secure Area"

- Click on Faculty & Advisors tab or link .
- Scroll down to and click Web Reporting Menu.
- Click Download a Class Roster
- Select and submit a Term
- Select and submit a Format (Microsoft Excel)
- Select Microsoft Excel if you plan to use Excel in Microsoft Office.
- Select CSV if you need a comma delimited text file to use in a software other than Excel.
- If you teach only one course, skip to 10; If you teach more than one course continue to 8.
- Select and submit a Report Type
- By Department gives class rosters for all courses in a selected department.
- By Instructor gives class rosters for all courses assigned to that instructor.
- By Course gives a class roster for all CRNs cross-listed or linked to the provided CRN, including TELETECHNET sections of the course. You will be asked to provide the lowest CRN.
- By Subject gives class rosters for all courses in a selected subject.
- Follow the directions on the screens to identify and submit the parameters for reporting each type
- Save the file to your personal or departmental network drive (H: or J:) where access is restricted in order to protect the privacy of your students' personal information. It is recommended you rename the file as you save it to help you keep track of the files.
You may consider the following file naming examples.
- for a roster by Department - roster_dept_sp06_jan31 (where jan31 indicates the date of the download and dept is replaced by the department name)
- for a roster by Instructor - roster_aprofessor_sp06_jan31 (where jan31 indicates the date of the download and "aprofessor" is replaced by your name or network ID)
- for a roster by Course - roster_engl304_sp06_jan31 (where jan31 indicates the date of the download and "engl304" is replaced by your course number)
- for a roster by subject - roster_ engl_sp06_jan31 (where jan31 indicates the date of the download and engl is replaced by the subject)
Your student roster is available in the Gradebook of your Blackboard course site.
- Select your course
- Click "Control Panel" (bottom left corner)
- Under "Assessment" click "Gradebook"
To view all students listed in your class use the List Users function.
- Select your Course
- Click "Control Panel" (bottom left corner)
- Under "User Management", click "List/Modify Users"
- Click "Search" OR click on the List All tab.
