Instructional Design Group Overview

CLT's Graphics staff provides professional design services for faculty and administrative staff for teaching, research, scholarly publications, conferences, seminars, and meetings.

The Graphics offices are located on the first floor of the Gornto Center.

Instructional Design Services

The Instructional Design Group offers support in the categories listed below. Feel free to contact CLT regarding the availability of any services that may not be listed.

CLT offers Instructional Assistance:

  • conduct needs assessment
  • conduct mid-semester evaluation
  • conduct course evaluation/observation
  • obtain copyright clearance
  • design and develop face to face, hybrid, and online courses: consultation or training
  • conduct effective internet search strategies
  • develop/produce instructional materials for face to face, hybrid, and online courses
  • integrate technology into the classroom
  • request proctor for paper and online testing (on-campus only)
  • promote interaction in face to face and online courses
  • prepare faculty to teach on television
  • provide faculty development demonstrations, seminars, and hands-on workshops

CLT offers Assistance in Using Technology:

  • integrate computer-based (online) testing
  • edit, digitize, or convert audio and/or video
  • faculty and teaching assistant support for Blackboard: consultation, planning, implementation, maintenance
  • create interface and interactivity models for hybrid and online courses
  • design websites and course sites for faculty

CLT offers Technology Resources:

  • provide technical assistance in a variety of university systems
  • provide Technology Classroom orientation
  • assist faculty in obtaining instructional tools such as FSCS, Acrobat Connect, and ODUEdit
  • assist faculty in requesting software for TELETECHNET classrooms, Technology Classroom, and computer labs

Instructional Design Group Consultation

  • Provides consultation
  • Conducts needs assessment

Instructional Design Rates

Typically, there are no charges for services provided to faculty by the Instructional Design Group, outside of special projects.
