Graphics Poster Presentation Production Guidelines

Electronic Submission:

Digital materials may be submitted on portable media or by email:
  • Portable Media: Zip/Jaz/floppy/CD/DVD in either Mac or PC platform
  • Email: Robert Jones at rjones@odu.edu.
Text Requirements: All text should be in Microsoft Word. Please DO NOT use PowerPoint to set up your poster. The Graphics staff will provide design services such as proper font, size, color, etc. The text file should include the title of the poster, authors and their affiliations and should be typed in the order you wish each section to appear on the poster (i.e., "Abstract", "Methods", "Discussion", etc.). Any figure captions may be included at the end of the document. There is no need to make individual files for each category; one text file is all that is necessary. Do not embed any graphs or image files in your text document.

Graph Requirements: All graphs done in any program other than Excel must be saved in one of the following formats: tiff, jpg, bmp, eps. If graphs are done in Excel, include the Excel files on the disk. Scanning 35 mm Slides, photos, or prints: Maximum size: 8.5"x11" Digital Images: Submit digital images in one of the following formats: tiff, jpg, or eps. Please note that "gif" files, as well as anything downloaded from the Internet, are usually very poor quality for enlargement purposes and should not be used. Unless you know that the dpi (dots per inch) of the image is 300 or higher, please do not use Internet images. If you have a preference for the background of your poster, please let us know. It is possible to place a digital image in the background, such as a photo of your study site, study animal/specimen, SEM or other microscopic photo. Poster Specifications: State the exact finished size for the poster. The maximum size is 4' by 6'. Proof: We will provide you with an Acrobat PDF file sent via e-mail or a printed proof copy for you to approve before the poster is printed. Turnaround: Please allow 7 to 10 days from start to finish, after all materials are submitted in proper formats.
