Description: This six-part workshop is designed specifically for new (or nearly new) faculty members, to help you inspire an innovative and engaging learning environment that will foster your students' success. This semester, the workshop will continue with Parts 4-6. In Part 4, Writing and Reading in Content Courses, you will meet with REMICA BINGHAM-RISHER, director of writing and a member of ODU’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) team to learn more about ways to improve your students’ writing, and you will be asked how you can incorporate writing into your courses. In Part 5, “The Faculty Asked For”, DR. WIE YUSUF (Urban Studies and Public Administration), NANCY SCHAFER (University Libraries), and HELEN MILLER (CLT), will join us to discuss three topics identified by faculty members: how to balance your career and your life; the ODU library resources available to faculty; and the use of iPads in the classroom. In Part 6, Your Future at ODU, you’ll meet with a representative of Academic Affairs to discuss tenure and other opportunities for professional development.
